SIT Corpor8 Rowing

Work participated in the Invercargil Corpor8 Rowing Challenge. I was lucky enough to be picked a team member. Here are a few photos of the training days, indoor event and the final challenge day. We came 2nd in the G class.

HOLIDAY

Yes, I needed a break from work, and I did say that I would do a tramp every year and this year I hadn't hardly even thought about one..... so off Kaye and I went. First via the Catlins then making our way to Dunedin very slowly (took the whole day). Here are a few photos.

After Dunedin for Sunday we made our way to Timaru while visiting Moraki Boulders on the way to Geraldine.
Day 1 Tramping up some mountain... will type the name in when my forgettory remembers. Day 2 Met up with another family and tramped up Mt Oxford... or should I say got 3/4 of the way up and got jelly legs..... hmmm not good.
Then through to Christchurch after stopping off for a very nice Hot Chocolate from a secret little town.. (memory not doing too well at 10.30pm)
We visited Lyttleton.

After a few nights with my 2nd cousin and catch up's all round, we headed for home.

Loud Shirt Day

Work participated in a LOUD shirt day where you donate a gold coin and the funds went to hearing aids for children. Here are my work colleagues with their loud shirts. Sorry faces are blurred.

Invercargill Blossom

Just walking down the street in September, and saw this beautiful blossom outside the City Town Hall.

Fish and Chips in Riverton

A beautiful September evening, we took some South African friends (Kiwi's now) to Riverton for Fish and Chips..... on the bikes of course.

Scrapping for Another

A colleague at work came up with a brillant idea to give her mother a Scrapbook of the family for her 80th Birthday on 12th September. Unfortunately I was the one who was asked to undertake the delicate task..... have you ever scrapped photos of someone you don't know, have never met, don't know their likes and dislikes!!! Its interesting. So receive the photos with a slip of paper of whose name it was and a few of their hobbies, or favourite things. Here are the photos. Sorry there are lots of photos - and faces are blurred!!

A Day for the LADIES!!

The itinerary for Thursday 20th August went as follows:

0700 - wake up and head off to the gym for a late workout
0800 - home and showered

0845 - pick up Kaye and Rachel

0910 - pick up Rozy

0930 - arrive at the SIT Hairdressing Salon for the First Year Elementary Hairdressing students to do our hair.

0945 - Level 3 Floristry student delivered our corsage

0945 - Student Cafe delivered our coffee/hot chocolate and cake.

The final product of our 2.5 hours of pulling, tugging, washing, drying, curling, hairspray and much more!!!

1145 - out of there

1200 - meet up with Alan, Lyndon, Maddison and Aaron for lunch at Bain Street Demolition Village. Wow - an awesome place. See earlier blogs regarding this hidden southland secret.

The men were advised what to wear, although their costume is still wearable today!! Some things never change.

1400 - drive to Riverton for a spot of country shopping. It would have been too embarrassing to do shopping in Invercargill. Just crossing the road we had about 4 cars toooooot their horns!! :-)

1500 - drive to Mores Reserve which looks over Riverton and have coffee. We were meant to go to Tuatapere for coffee at a old fashion coffee house.

1600 - drive to Invercargill the long way home. Some of us enjoyed the scenery but others need to rest their eyes. Heheh.

1700 - Thai Dee for Tea.

1930 - Attend the secret function.... no it wasn't cycling at the Veladrome, or a party at a fancy house, or getting groceries, or going for a walk in the park It was to the Ballet - La Sylphide. A beautiful show.

2015 - Find the lost car keys... hmmm someone went to the bathroom and left her keys on the back of the door... blame the costume with no pockets - will have to remedy that.

2030 - Drop Rozy home for her well deserved sleep
2045 - Drop Kaye and Rachel home - although just have to jump in the tub for a little relaxation.
2200 - Check out the 500 odd photos of the day
2345 - Home for sleep.
What a day, really enjoyed my time and hoped the ladies did too.
